Education For Police Officers

Education is important to Police Officers because it enables us to get promoted and more importantly it allows us to enter into another career once we retire from Law Enforcement.  Many Police Officers can retire at an early age because of the 20-25 year retirement plans that most Law Enforcement Agencies have in place.

After 20-25 years of Law Enforcement work you might be ready for a new career that could possibly pay much more than you were used to earning.  Understand that if you have a college degree and 20-25 years of Law Enforcement experience you have many career options open to you.

Police work is unpredictible and many Officers have been injured to the extent that they were unable to return to full duty. Having a college education is protection in the event that you are physically unable to perform your duties as a Police Officer because of an injury or illness.

What if you were injured tomorrow and you were told you would have to retire on a medical pension.  Could you support your family on the pension benefits alone?   What kind of employment could you obtain if you had no college and your only skills are Police related? A college education would offer you better opportunities if you had to leave Police work and enter the civilian workforce.
