The role of the State Police Officer or
State Trooper varies across the nation. Some states
use State Police/Troopers to patrol the highways and
interstate systems while other states utilize them to perform
city/county Police duties such as responding to 911 calls and
patrolling communities. One benefit of these positions
is that you will be in the State employee pension/retirement
fund. You will need to check with your particular state
government to find out exactly how they utilize their state
Police or Troopers. For example, Florida has the Highway
Patrol to enforce laws on the state highways.
